AtStaff is led by a proven executive team with a long track record of success in defining and redefining healthcare staff management software.

AtStaff's co-founders, Michael Warner (AtStaff Chairman and Chief Science Officer) and Beth Pickard (AtStaff President and CEO) each possess more than 20 years of experience in developing and implementing staff management software.

In the mid-1980s, they established and directed Atwork Corporation as the industry leader in nurse scheduling and enterprise-wide staff scheduling. By the mid-1990s, more than 1,200 hospitals were utilizing Atwork software for staff scheduling, staffing, productivity management and position control.

As healthcare approached the new millennium, Warner and Pickard recognized the need to move into a new and innovative direction.

AtStaff was established, in 2001, through the acquired technology and market presence of MSI Software, the leader in physician scheduling software. In addition to building on a premier position in the physician market, AtStaff sought to introduce a new, clinically focused staffing methodology that would deploy enterprise-wide healthcare staffing according to patient-specific demand.

This new staffing methodology — outcomes-driven demand management — bases staffing deployment upon matching the unique clinical requirements of each patient with the specific skills and qualifications of caregivers. This patient-centered approach holds the key to improving the quality of patient care, patient throughput, patient safety, and enhancing staff morale, satisfaction and retention.

AtStaff is building on the outcomes-driven capabilities of its demand management offerings, incorporating patient flow management, demand prediction, outcomes-driven acuity, and integrated patient assignment.

In addition, new employee self-service features — such as personalized employee dashboards, shift swapping, and new ways to sign up for open shifts — enhance the software's ability to improve employee morale and satisfaction.
